Sancerre for me is ‘Sauvignon Blanc for grown ups’. Clean, elegant and stylish. The 2009 vintage was a good year in the Loire and it is expressed well in this wine. Primary fruit is tempered with layers of stone and mineral that give the wine a very strong definition and tight focus on the palate.
Independent US wine writer Nick Passmore describes Pascal Jolivet as ‘There’s not an ounce of flab on the wine, it’s almost puritanical in its obsessive crystalline clarity’. 5/5
