Purplish crimson in colour. The nose speaks of bright red fruits – raspberry and cherry, with lifted violet florals, dried herbs and hints of oak and botanical spices.
The palate is attractively brambly with a core of red fruits, fresh acidity, fine, graphite-like tannins and a savoury edge which balances the fruit. Approachable in youth yet shows potential for further improvement when cellared correctly.
James Halliday 95 Points
Deep garnet, vivid hue; a pure black cherry and hoisin bouquet, revealing trace elements of minerality; the palate is youthful and juicy, with underlying tension of sappy tannin and fresh mouth-watering acidity; a wonderful drink early example of this variety-JAMES HALLIDAY’S WINE COMPANION NEWSLETTER, June 2011
